September's Atlantic City In-Water Power Boat Show is First of the Fall Season and Region's Largest
Boats Take Center Stage In Atlantic City September's Atlantic City In-Water Power Boat Show is nation's first and East Coast's most popular
Getting a jump on the fall season of boat shows is the region's largest, the Atlantic City In-Water Power Boat Show, where the newest models for 2006 will motor into the Farley State Marina, adjacent to Trump Marina Hotel Casino, September 8-11.
A great place to cruise for good buys, the show will feature more than 700 new power boats, 400 of them in the water. The full array of sport and motor yachts, sports fishing yachts and performance boats range in size from 18-75 feet in length. Well known boating manufacturers Bayliner, Cabo, Carver, Cruisers, Donzi, Formula, Grady White, Ocean Yachts, Sea Ray, Silverton, Sunseeker and Viking will display the latest innovations and upgrades for the 2006 season.
While checking the latest styles and trends, boating enthusiasts will want to try their luck at a marina-side casino -- the only one at a boat show; get fishing and boating pointers at five all-new seminars; refuel at the new food court with many more fresh food options; and shop at the popular Marine Accessory Mart. The greatly expanded mart will include cutting-edge marine equipment and technology, boat financing and insurance as well as a wide variety of nautical supplies, accessories and clothing. Hummer, the official vehicle of the Atlantic City In-Water Power Boat Show, will offer a chance to win a Hummer tactical mountain bike.
The show runs Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
Second only to Fort Lauderdale as the largest U.S. in-water power boat show, the Atlantic City show is a member of the prestigious International Federation of Boat Show Organizers. IFBSO is known as "the world's leading boat shows" and has limited, exclusive membership. Jerry Flaxman, executive vice president of In-Water Power Boat Show, Inc., is past president of IFBSO.
Information is available at 215-732-8001 or www.acinwaterboatshow.com, where tickets can be bought in advance online.
The biggest boat will be Viking Sport Cruisers' 75 Motor Yacht. With a base price of about $4.3 million, the 75-foot sport cruiser is one of eight in a fleet from the New Jersey boat builder. The display of Viking Sport Cruisers will be one of the region's largest to date, as most of their new 2006 model line debuts at the show.
Also tied up and ready to board will be top-of-the-line boats from Bayliner, Cabo, Carver, Cruisers, Formula, Grady White, Ocean Yachts, Sea Ray, Silverton, Sunseeker -- as well as about 40 more internationally and nationally known companies exhibiting all their new lines for the season.
On land the smaller boats -- over 350 sport boats, bow riders, walk arounds, center consoles and cuddy cabins -- will be on display in 200,000 square feet of space. With them, to discuss what's new, will be dealers and representatives from some of the best known manufacturers: Baja, Century, Chris Craft, Everglades, Key West, Mako, Polar, Rinker, Scout, Sea Boss, Sea Hunt, Sea Pro, Shamrock, Striper, True World, Wellcraft and many more.
A special appearance of Hummer, the official vehicle of the Atlantic City In-Water Power Boat Show, will add to the excitement. The 2006 H3, a new and smaller look for Hummer, will be there with the 2006 H1Alpha, Hummer's bigger favorite.
In its 21st year, the show is attracting a younger crowd. According to Flaxman, the show is appealing to many of today's 25 to 35 year olds who are looking to balance work lives with significant leisure activities.
As the show has expanded, it also has been drawing from a larger geographical area. Visitors come from the south in the Baltimore and Chesapeake Bay area, from all along the northeast corridor and from the Midwest and Canada.

In fact, visitors should think about spending a weekend by the sea, soaking up the variety of entertainment. In addition to the 700 boats and great variety of vendors, the Atlantic City boat show is the only one held at a casino facility. That means outstanding choices for big-name stars and glamorous restaurants and bars.
