The patented hydrodynamic design of Magma’s Rock-N-Roll stabilizer relies on shape rather than mass, making it very efficient and easy to handle. The proven hinged-wing stabilizer operates silently without noisy flapper valves or vanes that can keep the boat's occupants awake at night. It actually reduces motion sickness and accidents caused by uncomfortable wind and sea conditions.
As the boat rolls down a wave, the stabilizer's hinged wing folds flat, allowing it to dive without the resistance or buoyancy found in other designs that use frames, cones or bags. When the boat begins its climb out of the trough, the curved shape of the wings instantly forces the stabilizer to its fully-open position, producing maximum drag resistance throughout the entire process. This seriously reduces the effects of roll, pitch or yaw.
The stabilizer weighs only 18 pounds, but is extremely rugged and reliable. Far outlasting stiff wire bridles, it is made of 100% mirror-polished 18-8 stainless steel, and comes equipped with a flexible Dacron bridle with vinyl chafe guards to reduce fouling. The stabilizer folds completely flat for storage in its attractive storage/carrying case.
The Rock-N-Roll can be deployed using a sailboat's boom. For boats unable to extend the stabilizer away from the hull, Magma offers its patented outrigger system. The outrigger incorporates a permanently-installed hull boot of 356 hard-anodized aluminum, coated with white linear polyurethane for lasting beauty. A stainless steel swivel plate covered with a soft rubber pad slips into the hull boot to ensure secure and silent operation.
The three-piece telescoping outrigger extends the stabilizer well out from the hull to dramatically increase its effectiveness. Releasing the solid stainless steel locking pins enables the outrigger to collapse for easy stowage in the stabilizer storage/carrying case.
